Edward L. Walter, 97, of Crestline, died Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Oak Grove Manor, Mansfield.

Ed was born in North Braddock, PA on January 19, 1918 to the late John and Isabella (Ewing) Walter. He married Mary Margaret Drum on June 24, 1943 and she preceded him in death on August 15, 2003.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Edward retired in 1981 from Pittsburg Plate Glass in the mold shop. He was a member of the F&AM Pollock Lodge #502 in Tarentum, Pennsylvania. Edward enjoyed work and his family. 

He is survived by his daughter, Karen and Hans Boehm of Mansfield; his son, Alan and Vickie Walter of Ringgold, GA; his grandchildren, Matthew (Ame) Boehm, Jeffrey Boehm, Aaron (Laura) Boehm, Rachel (Caleb) Newsome, and Deborah Walter; six great-grandsons, Gavin, Trevor, Madison, Matthew, Carter, and Christian Boehm and Isaac Newsome; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Claire Newsome; and one great-granddaughter on the way.

He was preceded in death by his five sisters, Isabelle, Eileen, Mona Jean, Garnet, and Glenna.

Friends may call Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2-5p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 5 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park, Mansfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
