Douglas J. DeNero Sr., 70, of Galion passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Born December 22, 1946 in Mansfield, he was the son of Douglas A. and Elsie Beatrice (Rameriz) DeNero. He married Anne (Kohls) DeNero on October 16, 1965 and they enjoyed 51 years together.

He attended St. Peter’s High School in Mansfield and worked at General Motors for 30 years retiring in 1997. Douglas was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer and fisherman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Douglas (Andrea) DeNero Jr. of Galion. Anthony DeNero of Galion, Tina (Rod) Staiger of Galion, Daniel (Lisa) DeNero of Galena and Amy (Tom) Widman of Gahanna; grandchildren Heath (Michelle) Staiger, Kyle (Rhianna) Staiger, Nicholas Staiger, Chelsea Staiger, Samuel DeNero, Taylor DeNero, Jacob Staiger, Allison DeNero, Henry Widman, Lindsey DeNero, Christina Widman and Emily Widman; eight great-grandchildren; brothers Mark (Tina) DeNero of Texas, Steve (Chrissy) McGlone of Mansfield and Dino (Val) DeNero of Mansfield; sister Lynn DeNero of Shelby and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by step-mother Patricia A. DeNero and brother Michael F. DeNero.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. Mass of Christian Burial will held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 135 North Liberty, Galion, Ohio 44883 with Father Paul Fahrbach, Celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society in care of St. Joseph or Shriner’s Hospital for Children in care of the funeral home.
