Doris Miller

Doris J. Miller, 87, of Galion, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 at Mill Creek Nursing And Rehab, Galion after a short illness.

Doris was born in Bucyrus on Feb. 9, 1927 to the late William C. and Claire M. (Lay) Bechtol.  She married Carl W. Miller on Feb. 15, 1947 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2009.

She attends the Free Methodist Church, Galion, the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 Auxiliary, Galion, Galion Community Hospital Auxiliary, Galion and TWIG 1, Galion. Doris truly enjoyed her volunteer hours at the Galion Community Hospital volunteering for forty years.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing.  Doris was also an avid bowler and gardener.  She loved painting.  By nature, Doris was a caregiver, taking care of her neighbors and feeding and finding homes for the stray cats.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Miller, Galion, her three sons William & Becky Miller, Ontario, Brad L. & Susan Miller, Big Pine Key, FL, and Bruce & Karen Miller, Galion, her eight grandchildren Kimberly & Ken Hunter, Louis Lee Kimberlin, Jr. & Holly Dameron, Heidi Miller, Ted Miller, Sarah & Andrew DeVilliers, Emily & Jamin Rayborn, Leslie & Brad Cross and Regina & Dustin Whited, her sixteen great-grandchildren Starleena, Shenna, Tyler, Taylor, Blake, Bryce, Gage, Addison, Addelynn, Evie, Jack, Alicia, Megan, Audreana, Aden and Addison, and her eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl W. Miller, her infant daughter Carol, her four sisters Rose Katona, Martha Case, Betty Simons and Mary Kahre, her three brothers John Bechtol, Carl Bechtol and Benney Bechtol.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Walter officiating.
