David E. Swain

David E. Swain, 60, of Galion, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at Heartland of Bucyrus, Bucyrus after extended illnesses.

David is survived by his daughter Tavia Swain with husband Tim Blazer, Bucyrus, his son Nicholas Swain, Columbus, his father Kenneth and Helen Swain, Galion, his three grandchildren Malik Mills, Zavon Mills & Janai Troutman, his aunts and uncles John L. & Jo Swain, Catherine & Dennis Easterday, Bonnie Anschutz, Richard Swain and Paul & Karen Lightfoot, many close cousins including special cousin Albert Anschutz, his special friend Dan Powelson, his friend and caregiver Angela McCarthy Hauser and his ex-wife Lynelle Swain, Bucyrus.

David was born in Galion on December 9, 1953 and attended Galion High School.

He was a member of the graduating Class of 1972, Bearden High School, Knoxville, TN. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Galion. He served in the U.S. Navy. David was a longtime member of AA. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling, football, especially the Denver Broncos, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and he was an animal lover who fed squirrels. He loved music and it was an important part of his life. Folks who met David, loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Janet (Pack) and Will Williamson; maternal grandmother, Lillian and Herman Carpenter; maternal grandfather, Ora Pack; paternal grandparents, Kenneth L. and Faith B. Swain.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating. Full military honors will be given by the U.S. Navy and the Galion/Crestline Veteran’s Burial Detail at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be made to HomeCare Matters Home Health and Hospice, Galion in care of the funeral home.
