David A. (Schuster) Gabriel, age 53, of Mansfield passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.

He was born June 29, 1960 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Jack and Jackie (Prince) Schuster and was graduated from Lexington High School in 1979.

Always musical and artistic, David could play guitar, piano, and dabbled in the drums, but his passion was vocals. A few years following high school, David moved to California, where he worked as a vocal teacher for Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and for Elizabeth Sabine, before starting his own business as a vocal strengthening coach under the name David Gabriel. During his years of teaching, he also performed back-up vocals for numerous bands.

Returning to Mansfield in 2004, locally, he worked for his parents at Paul Revere Family Restaurant, before going on tour with the band Clear Static as tour manager and vocal coach. For the past three years he has worked as the manager at Granterā€™s Grinders, while continuing to teach part-time.

Described as unique, David had a personality that was larger than life, but was very private and spiritual, especially when it came to his clients. Compassionate and intuitive, David loved animals and sending his handmade greeting cards to his family. As he gave so many people throughout his years as a vocal coach their ā€œvoiceā€, his final act of love was to be an organ donor so that someone may have sight.

He is survived by his daughter Lindsay Marshall of San Dimas, California, daughter and her fiancƩ Courtney Marshall and Dustin Hamilton of Mansfield, his daughter Bella, with their baby boy Noah David Exton Hamilton due any day, and the mother of his children Rhonda Marshall; his parents Jack and Jackie Schuster of Mansfield, three siblings Kenneth Schuster of Lexington, Cathie and Vince Storms of Mansfield, and Vikki and Shawn Bartlett of Lexington; four nieces and nephews, Ashley and Angel Caraballo and Kyle Storms, and Ty and Beth Bartlett; aunts and uncles Dick and Cathy Schuster of Sandusky, Sue and Dennis Turcoliveri of Mentor, Jennie Ramey of Ashley and Yvonne Schuster of Eastlake; his dear friends and employers Don and Sharon Granter, his beloved pets Scooter, Binx, Tux & Blurple, and many cherished friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ken and Bea Prince, paternal grandparents John and Doris Schuster, and Winnie Schuster; and two uncles Ronald Schuster and Terry Prince.

A celebration of the life of David A. (Schuster) Gabriel with sharing by family and friends will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 4 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Friends may call prior to the celebration service from 2-4 pm.
