Everyone wanted to be a part of Dan. All people, all ages saw something special in him, someone who was an excellent example of integrity and drive but most of all: Dan was someone who had a great love for people.

Daniel Allen Berry, also known as ā€œBootā€, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in Hospice House of Ashland surrounded by his family. After a year and a half battle with cancer, he is finally home. Dan was 44.

He was born October 17, 1968 in Frankfort, Germany to parents Fred Vincent and Janet L. (Wilson) Berry. Dan was graduated from Malabar High School where he was the star athlete. As a freshman he was the starting quarterback in jersey #11 and it fueled a lifetime love of football (especially OSU!) and ā€œhis number.ā€ Dan later attended Ashland University.

On August 17, 2002 he married the love of his life, Taryn Utt.

Dan was a hard worker and an entrepreneur; he dedicated his ambitious career to construction. In spare time he enjoyed golfing at local courses. He was very passionate about coaching 5th & 6th grade football at Lexington and he was so proud of those boys.

Dan was a member of Lexington Community Church.

He is survived by his wife Taryn Berry of Lexington; three children Keelie Speckert, Kaydan Berry, and Karson Berry all of Lexington; his father Fred Berry of Narvon, PA; step-mother Judy Berry of Put-In-Bay, OH; two brothers Jeffrey (Vivian) Berry [parents to Christian Berry] of Ft. Campbell, KY and Michael (Tammi) Berry [parents to Dakota Uselton] of Shelby; two nieces Ariyah Stitzel and Aleeyah Holt; a nephew Carter Utt; special friends Hutch Blackstone, Rod Pfahler, Laura Mion-Lindsay, and Brandy & Brett Neuenschwander; a special Aunt Gail; and numerous extended family.

In addition to his mother Janet Whitmore, Dan was preceded in death by grandparents Merle & Eleanor Berry and Ralph & Della Wilson.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Danā€™s life will be held 12 noon Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Lexington Community Church, 220 Industrial Drive, with Pastor Jim Streib officiating and burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
