Charles E. Fox, 83, chose January 16, 2014 to return to Spirit. He lived in the Mansfield area his entire life.

Charlie was born in Mansfield to Tulley and Helen (Mowry) Fox June 26, 1930. He graduated from Springfield Township High School in 1948. Almost immediately after high school he joined the Air National Guard, in which he served twenty years. October 18, 1948 he married Norma J. Henke, who preceded him in death. Three children were born to them: Steven C. (Susan) Fox of Charleston, WV, Allenna G. (Bruce) Evans of Nashville, TN and Christopher B. (Laurie) Fox of Fredericktown. Charlie and Norma also parented numerous foster children, including Janet Denton of Mansfield, who remained an important part of their family.

In addition, he is survived by seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. On April 9, 1998 he married his second wife Lynn (Shambaugh) Holup Fox, who also survives.

Charlie built and remodeled houses, and many people in this area will recognize his skills. Before he retired in 2000 he worked as F & L Construction for 25 years.

Charlie served as an elder at Brookwood Way Church of Christ for 28 years. Most recently he was a member of Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center in Lexington.

His family will receive visitors from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday January 18, 2014 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A memorial celebration will immediately follow at 3 p.m. Elena Langstaff will speak. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery, where American Legion Post # 535 will hold graveside military honors. After services, family and friends will all gather at Der Dutchman for continued fellowship. Anyone who wishes may join the family there, dutch treat.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center or the NRA may be made at the funeral home.
