Charles E. “Charlie” Jackson, Sr.

Charles E. “Charlie” Jackson, Sr., 79, of Galion died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.

Born February 5, 1935 in Swords Creek, Va., he was the son of Fred G. and Dulcie N. (Miller) Jackson. He married Mary E. (Ellis) Jackson on January 29, 1955 and she survives.

Charlie was a graduate of North Robinson High School in 1953 and attended Galion Free Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of Nevada Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, a member of the Bucyrus Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Eye to Eye Support Group in Marion and State of Ohio Council for the Blind.

He was a general contractor owning and operating the former New Aluminum Products in Galion. Charlie loved to play cards and enjoyed golfing, boating and wood working. He enjoyed being with family and friends. Many knew Charlie for his quick wit and humorous personality.

In addition to his wife he is survived by daughter and son-in-law Melinda Y. and Alan R. Garvin of Galion and son and daughter-in-law Charles E. “Chuck” Jr. and Kristi L. Jackson of Galion; grandsons Jared L. Foos of Mansfield and Daniel E. Garvin of Galion; honorary family Stacey K. and Cheryl A. Plaster of Waldo and their loving children Jessica and Josh; brother Ozro (Barbara) Jackson of Mt. Vernon and sister Betty (Harold) Lloyd of Canton.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister Dorothy Belcher.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 with Rev. Paul Walter officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Galion Free Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
