Charles “Bud” D. Manring, 84, of Iberia, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, after a long illness.
While his family grieves deeply his loss, they are comforted in knowing that in heaven his health has fully been restored and that he has been reunited with the love of his life, Geneva.
Charles was born in Nevada, Ohio on March 4, 1932 to the late Charles C. and Zoa V. (Lohr) Manring. He married Geneva N. Persinger Manring on September 30, 1950 and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2011.
Charles retired from Galion Iron Works as a machinist and tool and die maker. Charles was a 1950 graduate of Iberia High School and a member of the Iberia United Methodist Church. He was a founding member of the Iberia Volunteer Fire Department and the Morrow County Mounted Deputies.
He was a 4-H advisor, a baseball coach and a lifelong union member. Charles loved to mow yards, work in his garden and make breakfast at the church dining hall during the fair.
He was a family man and loved his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles didn’t know a stranger. He thought he could play golf and he loved to try!
He is survived by his son and daughters, Daniel L. and Beth A. Manring, of Columbus, Debra L. Ruhl, of Mt. Gilead, Diana L. and William Mills, of Columbus; his seven grandchildren, Julianne Manring, of Key West, Florida, Jillian and Seth Burner, of Gahanna, Kevin and Kerry Ruhl, of Mansfield, Jason and Christina Ruhl, of Mt. Gilead, Brian and Chelsey Ruhl, of Mansfield, Alyssa Mills, of Gahanna, Zachary Mills, of Gahanna; his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ruhl, Matthew Ruhl, Isabelle Ruhl, Caleb Ruhl, Riley Burner, Jake Burner, and Stella Manring; and his sister-in-law, Joanne Manring, of Galion.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steve D. Ruhl, sisters and brothers, Edith Vossers, Harold Manring, Robert Manring, Ethel Jean Sulser, and Thelma Manring.
Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, with Pastor Brian "Yogi" Durbin officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery, Iberia.
Memorial contributions may be made to Iberia Tots and Toddlers Mother’s Club Scholarship Fund and/or the local Alzheimers Association in care of the funeral home.
