Carole Jeanne Crain Ryder

Carole Jeanne Crain Ryder, age 77, of Shelby, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.

Carole was born November 2, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lisle and Ruth (Wilkins) Mitchell. She was a homemaker and was a wonderful stay at home mom. She had also enjoyed being a telephone operator in South Carolina before her illness and returned to Shelby in 1987. Carole was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelby. She had a beautiful voice and was always singing. Carole was also an avid card player

She is survived by: a son: Robby (Lisa) Crain of Shelby; 2 daughters: Carale Allamon of Shelby and Lisa Greene of Mansfield; 9 grandchildren: Kevin Howell, Nathan (Brenda) Howell, Alisha (Jacob) Greene, David Greene, II, Scott Greene, Tyler Crain, Rachael Allamon, Megan Crain, Zoe Stevens; 4 great grandchildren: Daisy Howell, Tristan McKean, Skye Jones, Teagan McKean; a brother: Lisle S. (Barbara) Mitchell of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: 2 sons: James Jon Crain and David Lisle Crain; a brother: Terry Mitchell; and the true love of her life: Paul “P.B.” Barber.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brad McBee officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Shining Lights Preschool.
