BUTLER: Betty Perry, age 81, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 in OhioHealth Riverside Hospital in Columbus following an unexpected illness.
Betty Jean was born in Butler on September 11, 1935 to parents George & Verde (Butler) Oswalt the youngest of their 11 children. On December 17, 1954 she married Henry Perry and they shared nearly 43 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 1997. They are together again.
Betty worked as a press operator for many years with General Industries and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Perrysville. She was an excellent cook and everyone loved her macaroni salad.
In spare time, she liked to play card games like Euchre, Rummy, and Solitaire. She also enjoyed listening to country music, reading romance novels, and being with her dogs Daisy & Goldie and her cat Bootsie. In younger years she was a good square dancer and enjoyed camping and traveling. But above all, Betty cherished her friends and family and loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ira & Peggy Perry of Butler; grandchildren Heidi (Luke) Flynn of Akron, Heath (Carrie) Perry of Howard, Cody Perry of Butler and Angela; great-grandchildren Harper, Henley, and Jaylen; sister Rose Mary Hall of Butler; sisters-in-law Betty Oswalt of Butler, and Jewel (Don) Smith of MO; nephew Charles (Linda) Oswalt of Lexington; nieces Donna Arnholt of Perrysville and Roxanne Fowler of Loudonville; grand-nephew Gerald Meeks of Bellville; close special friends Steve & Patty Crider of Butler; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her loving husband, Betty was preceded in death by two sons Rick Perry and Michael Perry, siblings Andrew, Ralph, Frieda, Rosella, Wilma, Dave, Royd, Royal, and an infant sister.
Her family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.
