Beth Ann Johnston Sherer, 76, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at Wedgewood Estates.
Born Jan. 12, 1940 in Zanesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Leslie H. and Jean Catherine (VanAtta) Johnston.
Prior to moving to Mansfield in 1967, Beth Ann had worked for Swan Rubber Company in Bucyrus. She was a homemaker for nine years while her children were small and then went back to work in 1979 as a teller with BankOne and Chase Banks retiring in 2002.
She met the love of her life, Charles, at Epworth United Methodist Church where she was a member. She was also a member of Ontario United Methodist Church where she faithfully sang in the choir. Beth
Ann was a member the Ontario Music Boosters, a Girl Scout Mother and a Cub Scout Mother. She enjoyed needlepoint and reupholstering furniture.
Beth Ann loved taking care of her family and will always be remembered as a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Charles R. Sherer; a daughter, Michelle R. (Mark) Cecil; a son, Curtis A. Sherer; grandchildren, Leslie D. Weber, Elizabeth C. Miller, Catherine N. Sherer, Logan E. Weirick and Delanie R. Cecil; six great grandchildren; and many other close family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Johnston.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 South Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Peg Welch.
Following the service at the funeral home, there will be a meal served at Ontario United Methodist Church. A graveside service will follow the meal at 2 p.m. in Sherer Cemetery, Bucyrus, Ohio.
