MANSFIELD: Bernard Gene Hahn, known as B. Gene or Gene passed away after a brief diabetic related illness on Thursday evening of July 16, 2015 at Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
Gene was born in Coshocton, Ohio on May 13, 1939 to Beulah S. and Bernard C. Hahn.
He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1957 then attended Ohio State University and graduated from Ashland College with honors and a double major of marketing & accounting.
Immediately following college, Gene became a C.P.A. with Willis Osmond and Beilstein where he quickly rose to a full partner and owner. He retired as the owner and managing partner of W.O.B. but could still be seen several days a week at his office on Stumbo Road.
He married Brenda Seibert in 1965 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past May. They resided in a custom home they built in southwest Mansfield with their two children.
He is survived by his wife Brenda of Mansfield, son Ben and grandson Joshua of Lexington, daughter Gretchen of Orlando, Florida and 2 nephews Daniel Walker and his wife Solange & Curt Walker, all of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bernard and Beulah Hahn as well as a sister Linda Hahn Walker.
A longtime community contributor, Gene held board positions with the YMCA, Red Cross of Ohio, The Renaissance Theater & Discovery School.
He served as an on-going expert witness for the local, state and federal court systems in the field of finance and accounting as well as served as a trusted advisor to Taylor Industries, The Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company and Jay Plastics/Jay Industries.
Gene also served in the United States Army Reserves 359th Civil Affairs Unit.
He enjoyed antique automobiles, spending time with his family and long distance driving.
His impact and presence will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues, clients and the Central Ohio Community.
Calling hours will be Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a memorial service will immediately begin at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (please make checks payable to: JDRF) may be made through the funeral home.
