Barbara A. Farina

Barb was the family matriarch and always said that she was very blessed with a big beautiful family. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Barbara A. Farina, 84 passed away Monday evening, Oct. 3, 2016 unexpectedly in her Galion home.

She was born May 31, 1932 in Galion and was the daughter of Glenard and Mildred (Deisch) Walnum. On Aug. 25, 1951, she married Angelo A. Farina and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his passing on Nov. 5, 2008.

Barb is survived by children Cheryl (David) Pridgen, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Laura Smith, of Galion, Steven (Teri) Farina, of Westerville, and Mark (Debra) Farina, of Galion; grandchildren Lisa (Rob) Safrit, Ben (Debbie) Farina, Keeley (Adam) Lorenz, Brandi (Ryan) Gilliland, Brent Farina, Dane (Sara) Farina, Megan (Doug) Black, Jessica (Chris) Hill, Maria (Ryan) Francisco, Stefan (Dangie) Farina, Ryan (Megan) Farina and Taylor (Amanda) Smith; great-grandchildren Bryce Safrit, Brant Safrit, Gavin Lorenz, Mason Lorenz, Piper Farina, Wyatt Farina, Hudson Lorenz, Fitch Farina, Claire Black, Owen Black, Caleb Francisco, Evelyn Hill, Grey Gilliand, Eleanor Hill and Kyrian Farina; brother Loren (Janet) Walnum, of Crestline; step-brother Malcolm (Rita) Cooper, of Gray, Tennessee, and sister-in-law Virginia Smiley, of Galion.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by son-in-law Don Smith; great granddaughter April Farina; two brothers David Walnum and Gene Smiley and sister Dolly Heinberger.

Barb graduated from Galion High School in 1946. She worked as a designer at Flower Cart Florist and had been there for over 40 years. Barb has been a member for over 55 years of Club, a group of ladies in the area that got together at first to play cards and ended up sharing friendships and supporting each other.

Barb was an avid reader and enjoyed painting many Christmas Santas. Her family and friends will always remember her traditional Sunday pasta dinners.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 135 North Liberty St. Galion with Father Paul Fahrback as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
