B. Jean Reynolds

It wasn’t just the farm-fresh-fruit, or the mile-high meringue, or the hand-rolled crust that made Jean Reynold’s pies taste so good, it was surely so much of the love she put in them. Jean baked pies for every occasion, and so renown was her baking, that her contributions to church bake sales never made it into the building…they were sold in the church parking lot!

Jean passed away Tuesday morning May 20, 2014 in Mansfield Memorial Homes, she was 83.

Born Bessie Jean Partin March 24, 1931 to Thomas Demps and Lucy Florence (West) Partin, she attended school in Butler, only to graduate from Lucas. Though she worked at the Shelby Depot, Lumbermans and United Telephone, most folks will remember her as the bookkeeper at the Wishmaker House and later Derwacter’s in Bellville. She loved to sew and crochet, dance and read, and was a member of the auxiliary of both American Legion Post #535 and VFW Post #9943. Jean was a member of Littler Washington Congregational Church, and had served the congregation as deaconess.

She is survived by her children Deb Reynolds of Mansfield, Vicki (Biff) Bowman of Wellborn, FL, Fred (Diane) Reynolds of Canton, TX and Sheila Reynolds of Jackson, MI; grandchildren Jaemie Lallathin, Jackie (Dallas) Taynor, Thor Bowman, Lydia Bowman, Benaiah Bowman, Grace Bowman, Nathanael Bowman, Jennifer Reynolds, Jeromey Reynolds, Amber Hess and Ariel Maturine; numerous great grandchildren; siblings Bernard (Virginia) Partin of Mansfield, Thomas “Jack” (Bertha) Partin of Morristown, AZ, Elizabeth (Raymond) Cook of Zanesville; brother-in-law Richard Blum of Clearwater, FL, sisters-in-law Rosa Partin of Mansfield and Madeline “Mimi” Sohl of Bellville, and cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Frederick Reynolds; siblings Bill Partin, Dolores Blum, Carrie Partin; and in-laws Chuck Sohl and Frances “Pud” (Don) Farst.
