Anthony L. ”Herm” Betti, 89, of Crestline, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at his home after a brief illness.

Herm was born in Kittanning, PA on August 30, 1926 to the late Nello D. and Gina (Rossi) Betti. He married Joanne McGrady in 1955 and she preceded him in death on February 2, 2011.

Herm came to Crestline in 1963, coming from Kittanning, PA. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline. Herm was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Msg. Leo W. Frye Council #2642, Crestline. He retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass in 1988 after 25 years. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. Herm and his brother, Vando (Bill), were partners in the harness racing business. He enjoyed going to the family hunting camp in Pennsylvania. Herm also loved to play cards.

He is survived by his two sons: Mark and Paula Betti, Bucyrus; Michael Betti, Crestline, his six grandchildren: Andrew and Krista Betti, Toni and Josh Schafer, Renae Betti, Amber Bostic, Ashley Bostic, Jordan Bostic, and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded by his two children, Carla Tucker and Beth Ann Betti, his three brothers, Vando “Bill” Betti, Albert Betti, Alder Betti, and his two sisters, Sarah Colo and Rose Shankle.

Friends may call Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with Deacon Stephen Keller officiating. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9 at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, with Rev. Chris Bohnsack officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline in care of the funeral home.
