Amanda Imogene Taylor passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Samaritan Regional Health System in Ashland following an extended illness. She was 77.
She was born May 30, 1937 to Lebern & Dovie (Pack) Boggs in Greenup County, KY. When she was just 11 years old, she met a young man at church named James Taylor. He was so enamored with her, James began skipping school to spend more time with Imogene. After the pair dated 4 years, they married on May 4, 1953, and thoroughly enjoyed 65 years together.
Imogene dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her husband and 6 children. The family moved to Bellville in 1976. She was a fantastic cook and always made enough food to feed an army! Some of her specialties were: sausage gravy, liver & onions, fried green tomatoes and potato soup. Imogene had a personality like sunshine—ever the optimist, she was always happy.
In spare time, she enjoyed listening to old-time country music. But above all, Imogene cherished time with her grandkids and treated them like her own children.
In addition to her loving husband James Taylor of Bellville, she is survived by six children & their spouses: Larry (Dusty) Taylor of Mt. Gilead, Keith Taylor of Bellville, Kathy (Mike) Benear of Bellville, Lori (Scott) Hammon of Bucyrus, Dave Taylor of Bellville, and Danny Taylor of Bellville; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; 3 sisters; 1 brother-in-law Timothy (Judy) Taylor of Ashland & numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers.
The family will receive friends 10-12 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, 81 Mill Rd, where a service celebrating her life will immediately follow at noon. Celebrant Mark Dettmer will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
