SHELBY AND THE NORTH COUNTY DESERVE THE WHOLE STORY
Shelby deserves a properly-resourced, full-time reporter dedicated to telling the whole story of northern Richland County, so that its energy and culture connect to the rest of the region and beyond.
Over a year ago, our team at Richland Source began listening to Shelby and North County residents in a meaningful and structured way. The project aimed to see if folks had an appetite for deeper local news coverage. We interviewed dozens of community stakeholders, conducted surveys, and hosted listening sessions throughout the early part of 2022.
A clear picture emerged. Our neighbors to the north wanted to be more informed, engaged, and connected to one another and the rest of the region. They did not, however, want to lose their unique identity as “from the north.”
