MANSFIELD -- A 44-year-old woman was killed from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on West Cook Road on Saturday.

Judy Brown of Mansfield was a passenger in a 2013 Kia Soul in the 400 block of West Cook Road when it was involved in a collision with a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck at 9:36 a.m., according to Mansfield police.

Her identity was confirmed by Richland County Coroner's investigator Tom Stortz.

Brown, riding in the front-seat of the Kia, was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The 41-year-old male driver of the Kia Soul, Scot E. Mohn, of Mansfield, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The operator of the pick-up truck, 52-year-old Homer D. Carpenter and his passenger, Homer J. Carpenter, 77, were not injured.

According to Mansfield police Cap. Shari Robertson, the crash occurred when the Kia Soul, traveling in the right, westbound lane on West Cook Road and the Chevrolet pick-up lane, traveling in the left, westbound lane collided with each other.

"The impact caused the Kia to travel off the right side of the four-lane roadway and strike a utility pole," Robertson said.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed, police said. The Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.

Mansfield Police are requesting any witnesses to the crash who were not interviewed at the scene to contact MPD at (419) 755-9724 and ask for officer Carolyn Young or a shift supervisor.
