MANSFIELD — A 57-year-old Mansfield woman died Tuesday evening from injuries sustained in a trike motorcycle accident at North Lake Park, according to Mansfield police.

Robin Bertoch died at a local hospital, where she was transported after the 6:41 p.m. accident at the park north of West Fourth Street, police said.

According to the MPD, Bertoch was a passenger aboard a 1985 Honda trike being driven by James Bertoch II, 63, also of Mansfield.

Bertoch lost control “after he had turned his head to speak to his rear-seated passenger,” police said in an emailed press release late Wednesday afternoon.

The trike traveled off the road and struck a pole, ejecting the driver and partially ejecting the passenger, who was momentarily trapped under the overturned trike, according to police.

The press release does not say if James Bertoch was injured in the crash.

Police said there was no indication at the scene that alcohol and/or drugs were involved and speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash. No additional information is available at this time as the crash remains under investigation, according to police.

Police are asking that anyone witnessed the crash and were not interviewed to contact Mansfield police at (419) 755-9724 and ask for Sgt. Toneli Webb or a shift supervisor.
