GREEN TOWNSHIP -- Two 18-year-olds were killed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Ohio 57 at County Road 7, according to the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Skylar Sigler, 17, of Apple Creek, and Anthony Shaw, 18, of Elyria, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner's Office.

According to the Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after midnight. Authorities report that no seatbelt restraint was used by either driver and alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash.

The Patrol report states that Unit 1, driven by Shaw, was traveling southbound on State Route 57. Unit 2, driven by Sigler, was traveling eastbound on County Road 7 attempting to turn left and travel northbound on State Route 57. Shaw's vehicle failed to yield at the red light, striking Sigler's vehicle on the driver side.

The report notes that Shaw's vehicle then traveled off the left side of State Route 57 before striking a guardrail, overturning and becoming engulfed in flames. Sigler's vehicle traveled southbound on State Route 57 before striking a guardrail and coming to rest further down the road.

The Wayne County Coroner’s Office, Orrville Fire Department, Deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers from the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.

This crash remains under investigation.
