CLEAR CREEK TOWNSHIP -- A New London man was arrested and an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper was injured after a two-vehicle crash just north of Ashland, according to a Wednesday night press release from the Ashland Post.
The Trooper, whose name was not released, was transported to a local hospital and released with minor injuries.
Scott D. Farnsworth, 46, was arrested for Operating a Vehicle Impaired and also charged with Assured Clear Distance Ahead, the Patrol reported. Farnsworth had a blood alcohol content that was greater than three times the legal limit.
The Patrol reported that Farnsworth has an upcoming mandatory court appearance at the Ashland Municipal Court.
The incident took place on U.S. 250 near Township Road 856, just north of Ashland in Clear Creek Township.
According to the Patrol, an on-duty Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper was slowing to stop for a traffic crash involving another motorist and a deer. The cruiser was then struck from behind by a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado.
Farnsworth was not injured, the Patrol stated. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Savannah Fire/EMS, Bate’s Towing, and Auer’s Towing.
