SHELBY -- On Sept. 19, the Shelby community will rally together and help The Shelby Foundation achieve its mission of connecting generosity with community need at the Foundation's annual fundraising event: An Evening with The Shelby Foundation.
This year’s event will look a little different than years past. Mindful of the current pandemic, and the importance of keeping everyone safe and healthy, the fundraiser will focus on a virtual auction.
While the Foundation’s Board was forced to make the difficult decision not to congregate in person this year, they felt it was still important to have this event. Just like other nonprofit organizations, the Foundation relies heavily on the community’s generosity. Every dollar raised will be invested back into the Shelby community and surrounding areas through the Foundation’s grant making abilities, and will have a substantial and lasting impact on this community.
A large draw for many supporters is the silent and live auctions. Using an online platform, everyone will have the ability to bid and support the Foundation from the comfort of their own home.
“While we had to reinvent aspects of our annual event, that is not necessarily a bad thing," Foundation Director Carrie Kemerer said. "Being forced to go to an online venue, it allows donors from all over the country previously unable to attend, the ability to support the Foundation in a fun, new way.”
Details about the online auction and registering details can be found at www.theshelbyfoundation.org. Kemerer encourages everyone to visit the Foundation’s website for simple instructions on how to participate in this year’s auction.
“If you shop on Amazon or do any online shopping, using our online auction platform, will be a breeze," Kemerer said. "Thank you in advance for supporting The Shelby Foundation.”
