Richland County is under a Level One snow emergency, declared Monday evening by Sheriff Steve Sheldon.
A Level One snow emergency means roads are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads are also icy and motorists are urged to drive carefully.
There are three levels to Ohio snow emergencies, all of which must be declared by the county sheriff.
Under Level Two, rods are hazardous and only those who believe it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways.
Under Level Three, all roads are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one else should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. All employees should contact their employers to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roadways may be subject to arrest.
