MANSFIELD – The Richland Community Development Group recently added Clint Knight to its team.

Last week the Bellville man began working as the organization’s workforce development director, a position that’s been unfilled for several months since the departure of the former director.

Knight most recently served as an Ashland-based branch manager for Spherion Staffing Services, where he’s been employed for seven years. He started at a distribution center in Shelby and has spent the past four years in Ashland.

“It gave me a really good opportunity to stay on top of what’s happening in workforce in both Richland and Ashland Counties,” Knight said. “My job was to create various staffing solutions for various companies, work with employees on where they want to be.”

When he heard the position with RCDG became available, he was compelled to apply.

“I knew it was the next logical step for me. I loved what I was doing, but this kind of broadens my opportunity to be more community focused,” Knight said.

He’s spent the first week making connections and learning more about his role, but he’s already got big plans.

“My goal is to be able to make an efficient connection between employees and employers through opportunities and training,” Knight said.

He intends to build upon some of RCDG’s existing workforce development ideas and introduce some of his own, including building partnerships with schools.

Knight grew up in Moultrie, Georgia, but lived in Atlanta before moving to Bellville, where his wife, Carrie was raised. The two met in Atlanta.

The couple has four children, ranging from 9-months-old to 8-years-old.

Outside of his role as workforce development director, Knight is a musician. He occasionally plays at the Wishmaker House, The Phoenix Brewing Company and other venues.
