Imagination Park District

The Imagination Park District is shown here at night.

MANSFIELD -- It's a great time for a trip to downtown Mansfield to visit Imagination Park, a temporary pop-up park.

The park has an urban garden, mindful play space, and dining areas in the Imagination District on West 3rd St., between Mulberry St. and Bowman Ave. Open through Oct. 1, 2021, there will be activities each day.

“This pop-up park is a fun and safe way to bring our community together. It is outside, and along the length of W. 3rd Street, creating natural social distancing,” said Korinna Goettel, Idea Works Director and planning committee member.

“The park was designed with trees, flowers, original art, pergolas, tables, and seating areas that are charming and creative.”

For Goettel, having food available to park visitors was important.

“Food trucks now have a home in Mansfield at 144 W. Third Street, which is also the home of the Idea Works Kitchen," Goettel said. "Permanent installations of electrical outlets suitable for running food trucks are now in place across from the park, in the lot next to Idea Works Kitchen.”

“The pop-up park was created with mindful intention,” said Annamarie Fernyak, founder of Mind Body Align and Idea Works. “We are always looking for ways to bring beauty and visitors to our downtown.

"Plus, food trucks can now operate in an area where there is a food desert.”

Little Buckeye Children’s Museum, a hands-on, play-based children’s museum with 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor and featured on the Ohio Traveler website, set up numerous interactive exhibits in the park. Artists Allison Pence and Robin Shoup painted a photo- worthy mural spanning the width of Third Street with butterflies and bees. “Both Little Buckeye and Allison thoughtfully inspire visitors to our community,” Fernyak said after taking a moment to dance on the mural.

There are events planned each day and a party on the final day of the pop up. This is like any park, no event is needed to visit, walk, bike and enjoy the delightfulness of it all!
