MANSFIELD – The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Shelby Police Department has completed an Operating Vehicle Intoxicated checkpoint that occurred on Aug. 24 on SR 39, near Taylortown Road, in Richland County between 8 and 9:30 p.m.

During the checkpoint 350 vehicles drove through the checkpoint. Two of the 350 drivers were diverted and found to be under the influence. ODOT assisted with traffic control during the checkpoint.

The checkpoint was then moved to Park Avenue West, west of Trimble Road, in Richland County between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and midnight. During the checkpoint the Ohio State Highway Patrol checked 210 vehicles that drove through the checkpoint. One of the 210 drivers were diverted and found to be under the influence. ODOT assisted again with traffic control during the checkpoint.
