MANSFIELD -- The missing 17-year-old runaway sought by the Mansfield Police Department on Friday has been found.
According to a press release from Mansfield Police Capt. Shari Robertson, Blake Gerdau was located by the Richland County Sheriff's Office on Friday night and is safe.
"As always, we appreciate the community's assistance in getting this information out," Robertson said.
At approximately 9:27 a.m. on Friday, the Mansfield Division of Police was notified that a 17-year-old male, who has had suicidal tendencies in the past, had run away from Foundations for Living located at 1451 State Route 39 Mansfield.
Gerdau reportedly fled into a wooded area north of the facility. He was seen on Hickory Lane.
According to staff at Foundations, Blake has made suicidal attempts in the past, the last one being approximately two months ago. However, he did not make any suicidal threats on this date. The staff further advised Blake was upset over a disciplinary incident from the day before which may have triggered his fleeing the facility.
