MANSFIELD -- An 88-year-old Mansfield woman was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 30 and the entrance ramp from Lexington-Springmill Road, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 9:19 a.m. when a 2005 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Frances Stamper, was entering U.S. 30 westbound from Lexington-Springmill and turned in front of a 2014 Volvo semi commercial truck that was westbound on the highway.
Troopers said the Impala was attempting to turn left into the median crossover. The Impala came to rest in the median and the commercial truck came to a controlled rest on the north berm of U.S. 30.
Stamper was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the commercial truck was Matthew Tuttobene, 33, of Spencerville, Ohio. He was not injured.
Springfield Fire and EMS, Ontario Police Department, Highway Patrol Commercial Units and Shelly Smith Towing all assisted with the crash.
There is no alcohol or drugs suspected at this time and it is known that Stamper was not wearing a safety belt, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
