MANSFIELD -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol has placed a trooper on administrative leave in the wake of an investigation after drugs seized in a traffic stop went missing.

According to Patrol Staff Lt. Craig Cvetan, the trooper has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is pending.

"The trooper is currently an uncharged suspect in the case, therefore I cannot release the name at this time," Cvetan said.

The routine traffic stop occurred on Possum Run Road in Washington Township. The missing drugs were reported on Nov. 4, according to the incident report.

The traffic stop where the drugs were seized occurred on Nov. 1 at about 6 p.m., according to the incident report. The report states the drugs were narcotics or illegal drugs, excluding marijuana.

According to the incident summary, the vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation and the driver was arrested for OVI and child endangering. A probable cause search of the suspects' purse revealed suspected drugs.

Cvetan said the investigation is ongoing.
