MANSFIELD — The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library will again offer the opportunity for library customers to donate food to receive credit toward library fines.

From Aug. 5 to Aug. 10, at all library locations, residents can bring in non-perishable food items and get $1 per item toward any fines, up to a value of $25.

Suggested items include peanut butter, cereal, canned soup, canned vegetables, canned beef stew, canned tuna/chicken, rice, canned fruit, pasta and canned tomato products.

No damaged or expired items will be accepted. No glass containers – only plastic, metal cans, or cardboard.

Credit is available only for fines. Fees for damaged or lost items and collection fees are not eligible.

All collected food items will be donated to food banks that serve each library location.

For more information, call Mary Frankenfield, deputy director, at 419-521-3127, or e-mail mfrankenfield@mrcpl.org.
