MANSFIELD -- Mansfield Police are asking for the public's help in locating witnesses to a Wednesday afternoon crash that claimed the life of a 69-year-old man.
In a press release, Mansfield Police Chief Keith Porch said officers responded to an injury crash at the McDonald’s restaurant located at 540 North Trimble Road at approximately 12:47 p.m.
"Upon the arrival of first responders, a 69-year-old white male driver of a 1995 Ford F-150 pick-up truck was found unresponsive in the drive-thru area of the business," the statement reads. "The victim was injured after striking a steel post, while in the line of the drive-thru.
"The victim suffered injuries to his upper extremities and was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other occupants were in the victim’s vehicle at the time of the crash."
Police said there was no indication at the scene that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash and toxicology results will be pending an autopsy. No additional information was available as police stated the incident remains under investigation.
"We are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the crash and were not interviewed, to please contact Mansfield Police at 419-755-9724 and ask for Sergeant Paul Lumadue or a shift supervisor."
