MANSFIELD -- Mansfield Police continue to search for the suspect(s) involved in a Thursday morning stabbing in the 900 block of Brookfield Drive.
Police reported that a woman in her 70s was stabbed more than 30 times around 7 a.m.
The victim's daughter reported the assault in a 9-1-1 call to Mansfield Police.
"Major Crimes Detectives continue to follow-up on leads being provided by the public," Mansfield Police Capt. Shari Robertson said. "Those include possible video footage they are reviewing to see if any of it is related to this case. If anything further develops from these leads, we will let you know.
"We are thankful for those who have reached out and continue to encourage any assistance from the public in identifying the suspect(s) in this senseless and horrific crime."
According to a police press release, the victim stated that a male had entered her apartment by unknown means and began stabbing her as she laid in her bed.
The victim described the suspect as a light-skinned male, possibly bi-racial or Hispanic, in his late teens to 20’s. She further advised that she believed she heard another person inside the apartment during the assault.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and left in the care of Emergency Room staff for treatment.
