MANSFIELD – The Jared Mansfield Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution met at 1:00 p.m. at the Gorman Nature Center, Mansfield Ohio for their first meeting of the fall season.
Regent Joyce Vanatter called the meeting to order with the Opening Ritual, the Pledge of Allegiance, the American’s Creed, followed by the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States led Joyce Long, Constitution Chair.
Regent Vanatter welcomed members and guests.
During the business meeting Regent Joyce Vanatter gave a report from the Fall Fun Fair held in Columbus on Aug 17th at which our chapter was recognized with four Ohio State DAR certificates. We received Chapter Achievement Award, Level 1, OSDAR Constitution Week Committee, East Central Division, National, Excellence in Constitution Week Leadership Award-Chapter & Community, Chapter Proclamation from a City Mayor, and Most Number of Constitution Week Articles in Print Media.
The chapter received 3 greetings, and 2 resolutions for our 100th Anniversary Celebrations held in April. Members read the greetings and proclamations to the membership.
Chaplain Pat Jennings read a Memorial in memory of C. Diane Wappner Kracker who passed away this past June.
A Proclamation was presented to Joyce Long, Constitution Chair during the meeting from the Ohio Genealogical Society by past president, Sunda Peters. There will be displays for Constitution Week in the Bellville Library, Lexington Library, Ontario Library, Mansfield /Richland Co. Public Library and at the Ohio Genealogical Society. Joyce Long, Constitution Chair has scheduled meetings with Bellville Mayor Brenkus and Mansfield Mayor Theaker to receive proclamations from each on Constitution Day.
Regent Vanatter received a Special Recognition Award from The General Assembly of The State of Ohio, House of Representatives, honoring for her hard work to our community.
Our guest speaker was Debra Robinson, US Air Force veteran and a board member of the Richland County Veterans Honor Bus. She provided us an overview of the Honor Bus and upcoming trip to Washington DC. Members wrote thank you letters for the veterans participating on the Honor Bus, these will be presented to the veterans during the trip.

The next DAR meeting will be held at 7:00 pm on Oct. 4 at OGS, Ohio Genealogy Society, 611 State Rt. 97 W., Bellville. Our program will be ‘Life As A Native American in the 17th Century’ by Roger Moore.
