MANSFIELD — Without public comment, Mansfield City Council unanimously Tuesday approved new three-year contracts with its two police unions.

The separate agreements are with the “Gold” unit, representing police command officers (captains, lieutenants and sergeants), and the “Blue” unit, which represents police officers.

Both bargaining units are members of the Fraternal Order of Police, William Taylor Lodge #32. Both contracts are retroactive to Aug. 1 and run through July 31, 2022.

City officials said both unions had previously ratified the collective bargaining agreements.

Council went into executive session during its caucus session to discuss the contracts. When it returned, and began its legislative meeting, there was no council discussion prior to 8-0 votes on each deal.

Details of the contracts have not yet been made public.

In other action Tuesday, council:

— voted to approve a $600 sewer back-up claim for damages sustained in July by Kayla and Grant Griggs, 236 Fairlawn Ave.

— voted to approve demolition of dilapidated structures at 47 Glessner Ave. and 287 N. Diamond St.

—  voted to increase appropriations from various unappropriated funds to cover income tax refunds for the remainder of 2019.

— voted to accept a $73,049.34 grant from the Ohio Crime Victims Assistance Office, appropriating the funds to be expended in 2019-2020.

— discussed during council caucus the city’s proposed temporary budget for 2020.
