COLUMBUS -- Agents of the Ohio Investigative Unit visited the following liquor-permitted establishments on Jan. 14 and issued citations after witnessing violations:
Line Star Enterprise LLC., known as Planet Rock, Mansfield, received a citation for improper conduct - disorderly activity and hindering and/or obstructing inspection. At 11:45 p.m., agents arrived at the establishment and observed 20 people drinking and playing beer pong. Several patrons were seated closely at the bar with no social distancing measures or physical barriers in place. Officers from the Mansfield Police Department were called to assist agents. This liquor permit establishment was previously cited for improper conduct on September 22, October 30 and December 10. The Ohio Liquor Control Commission has scheduled a hearing on January 20.
KFP Black Forest Pub LLC., known as Black Forest Pub, South Euclid, received a citation for improper conduct -- disorderly activity. Agents arrived at 10:25 p.m. and found the establishment open and operating. Agents observed eight to 10 patrons consuming alcoholic beverages.
The above cases will go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for potential penalties, including fines and/or the suspension or revocation of liquor permits.
About the Ohio Investigative Unit
The Ohio Investigative Unit is made up of fully-sworn, plainclothes peace officers responsible for enforcing Ohio’s alcohol, tobacco, and food stamp fraud laws. Agents conduct compliance checks to ensure the liquor permit premises are compliant with the Ohio Liquor Control Act. Agents also act on complaints of illegal activity on liquor permit premises.
In addition to providing the safety checks associated with the COVID-19 directives, OIU agents continue to perform their normal compliance checks to ensure the liquor permit premises are complying with the Ohio Liquor Control Act.
