METRICH detectives with assistance from the Mansfield Division of Police and the Allied Special Operations Response Team (ASORT) seized approximately two ounces of suspected methamphetamine, three ounces of suspected heroin/fentanyl, four ounces of suspected cocaine, marijuana, two firearms and $2,000 in U.S. currency.

MANSFIELD — A man was arrested and guns, suspected drugs and cash were seized after a joint raid on a Helen Ave. residence Thursday morning in Mansfield, according to a press release from Lt. Joseph D. Petrycki, METRICH Enforcement Unit Commander.

Detectives arrested and charged Broderick E. Petty with counts of Trafficking in Drugs, Possession of Drugs, Having Weapons While under Disability and Receiving Stolen Property. Petty was incarcerated at the Richland County Jail pending his appearance in court. Further charges may be forwarded to the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office.

“The METRICH Enforcement Unit continues to target those individuals selling drugs in the community and urges the community to continue reporting suspected drug activity,” Petrycki stated.

A search warrant was served at approximately 9 a.m. on Dec. 13 at 75 Helen Ave., after a short-term drug trafficking investigation triggered by several complaints in the neighborhood, Petrycki stated.

As a result of the search warrant, METRICH detectives with assistance from the Mansfield Division of Police and the Allied Special Operations Response Team (ASORT) seized approximately two ounces of suspected methamphetamine, three ounces of suspected heroin/fentanyl, four ounces of suspected cocaine, marijuana, two firearms and $2,000 in U.S. currency. One of the firearms recovered was also found to have been reported stolen.
