MADISON TOWNSHIP – A Lexington man was killed on Saturday night after he was struck by a vehicle while walking on U.S. 42, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Mansfield Post.

Neil Miller, 72, was walking on U.S. 42 between the U.S. 30 ramps and had entered the northbound lane of travel, the Post reported. Aaron Leonard, 40, of Lexington, was driving a 2016 Nissan SUV northbound on U.S. 42 and struck Miller.

The initial report was called in at 9:30 p.m.

Madison Township Fire and EMS responded to the scene along with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. The Richland County Coroner’s Office also responded and pronounced Miller deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.
