SHELBY – During the COVID-19 pandemic, the FISH Food Pantry has remained open to serve Shelby City School District residents experiencing food insecurity.
“FISH is open for business five days a week from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.,” a FISH volunteer said.
The pantry provides regular food assistance on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. To receive this help, should call 419-347-5010 on those days between 10 a.m. and noon. A phone volunteer will gather information and schedule a pick-up time. Emergency food assistance is available for walk-ins.
“And items on the shelves in the lobby are available to anyone at anytime,” the volunteer said. “They often contain fresh produce, bread, dairy, and other foodstuffs.”
Because FISH strives to keep both its clients and its volunteers safe and healthy, masks are required and social distancing is practiced.
Organized as an Ohio not-for-profit corporation in 1971, The FISH of Shelby, Inc. operates the food pantry that serves residents of the Shelby City School District.
It is located in the Shelby Help Line Ministries building at 29 ½ Walnut Street (Rear). On Facebook, it can be found at “FISH of Shelby.”
