MANSFIELD -- A 59-year-old man was arrested Thursday during a drug-related search of a room at the Rodeway Inn, 880 Laver Road, according to Lt. Jason Bammann of the METRICH Enforcement Unit.

Reginald Charity was the focus of an investigation stemming from multiple complaints of drug activity in his residence, Room 149, Bammann said.

The investigation, assisted by the Richland County Sheriff's Department, led to a search warrant, the arrest of Charity and the seizure of a handgun, Bammann said.

Charity was arrested and incarcerated at the Richland County Jail on two counts of felony drug trafficking, and having weapons under disability.

Bammann, METRICH commander, said collaboration between local law enforcement agencies and the METRICH Enforcement Unit continues to have a positive impact on removing illegal drugs coming into Richland County communities.

Bammann thanked those in the community who called in tips and complaints, which assisted detectives in this investigation.

Bammann said METRICH encourages citizens to continue to be proactive by reporting suspected drug activity. Citizens can call the METRICH Crime Tip Hotline at 419-52-CRIME (419-522-7463) or the Task Force line at 419-755-9728.
