MADISON TOWNSHIP – Two Mansfield residents and a Richland County Sheriff's deputy were all transported to a hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Thursday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Anna Rebel, 58, of Mansfield and Gina Woodall, 31, of Mansfield, were both treated for injuries after the crash at approximately 9:36 p.m., the patrol report stated. The deputy was not identified, but was also treated after being transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
The patrol said the deputy was responding to the Thursday night shooting in Madison Township. The incident took place at the intersection of Ohio 430 and Illinois Avenue.
According to authorities, the crash occurred when the deputy, driving a 2018 Ford Taurus, was traveling north on Illinois Avenue, responding to a shooting call with emergency lights and sirens activated. The deputy collided with a 2005 Saturn mini-van that was westbound on SR 430 while traveling thru the intersection.
The deputy and the two women were transported to OhioHealth.
Madison Township Fire and EMS, Mifflin Township Fire and EMS, and Mansfield City Fire and EMS responded to the scene and assisted. The intersection was closed while the crash was being investigated.
The crash remains under investigation.
