DAYTON — Larry Dwayne Rodgers, 31, of Dayton has been indicted for the shooting deaths of a Mansfield couple who went missing in November 2019, according to Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. 

Todd Burkhart, 28, and Kyla Hayton, 20, both of Mansfield, were reported missing on Nov. 18, 2019. They were last seen on Nov. 16, 2019 dropping their daughter off at a grandparent’s house in Columbus before continuing on to Dayton to allegedly purchase a firearm for a friend. 

The deceased body of of Burkhart was located inside an abandoned home at 900 W. Stewart Street in Dayton. Cadaver dogs also located Hayton’s deceased body inside an abandoned home at 910 W. Stewart Street. Both victims were fatally shot in the head. Hayton was pregnant at the time of her murder.

Rodgers was arrested on a weapons charge early on in the investigation.

On Tuesday, the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office indicted Rodgers with four counts of aggravated murder, four counts of murder, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, four counts of kidnapping, four counts of felonious assault and one count of having weapons while under disability, a prior offense of violence.

Each of the counts except for the weapons charge also have three-year firearm specifications attached. 

The defendant is currently in the Montgomery County Jail. He will be arraigned on the new indictment on Thursday, March 5 at 8:30 a.m.
