CLYDE -- Bucyrus authorities were called to aid in an arrest Tuesday after a car-jacking attempt on the Ohio Turnpike.
According to the Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 9:05 a.m., troopers responded to the report of an armed robbery at the Erie Island Service Plaza on the Ohio Turnpike , I-80 westbound near milepost 100 in Sandusky County. It was reported that a female attempted to steal a vehicle at the gas station.
Upon arrival, troopers said they made contact with a male victim at the gas station who told them a female brandished a knife and demanded the keys to his vehicle. When he refused, the female suspect fled into the Erie Islands building.
Troopers from the Milan Post, Bucyrus District Criminal Patrol Section and an Agent from the U.S. Border Patrol located the female suspect inside the building near the truck driver shower area.
According to the OSHP press release, the suspect did not immediately comply with officers commands to surrender and eventually was taken into custody with the use of a Taser. The suspect was in possession of a knife at the time of the arrest.
The suspect was identified as Lisa Michelle Todaro, 33, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She was incarcerated in the Sandusky County jail and charged with first-degree felony Attempted Aggravated Robbery. Additional charges will be filed at a later time.
There were no injuries to the victim, suspect or arresting officers, the Patrol stated.
