CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland theatre district has thrilled to announce the national tour of Come From Away, a Broadway musical about the true story of the small town that welcomed the world, will make its Cleveland debut at Playhouse Square for a limited engagement July 9 to 28 as part of the KeyBank Broadway Series.

Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.

On Sept. 11, 2001 the world stopped. On Sept. 12, their stories moved us all.

COME FROM AWAY is at the Connor Palace at Playhouse Square with performances July 9 through 28. Show times are Tuesdays – Fridays at 7:30PM, Saturdays at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 1 and 6:30 p.m.. Tickets for all performances are currently on sale, and may be purchased at the Playhouse Square Ticket Office (1519 Euclid Ave in downtown Cleveland), online at playhousesquare.org or by calling 216-241-6000. Group orders of 15 or more may be placed by calling 216-640-8600.

With the run of COME FROM AWAY, Playhouse Square is launching a new series of community engagement events and programs called “Broadway Surround.”

“Theater entertains us, but also sparks conversations and connections,” said Daniel Hahn, vice president of community engagement & education at Playhouse Square. “With ‘Broadway Surround’, we are igniting that engagement throughout the community, and it is something we hope to replicate going forward.”

Prior to the show’s opening, Playhouse Square facilitated a series of inspirational conversations between students at St. Joseph Academy, Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio and Captain Beverley Bass, who is portrayed in the show. During her May visit, Captain Bass also recorded conversations with five local media stations that will air in the weeks leading up to the show.

Upcoming events include a Broadway Summer Camp for 85 high school students and:
