MANSFIELD -- The 17th annual Humane Society of Richland County Strutt Your Mutt Canine Festival will take place Saturday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Richland County Fairgrounds Arts and Crafts Building.

This family-friendly festival brings together people with a shared love of animals and their pets for a day of food and fun. Festivities include: Gated Dock lure coursing, Zoom and Groom Doggie Nail Clinic, dog activities, Humane Society adoptable pets, a pet caricature artist, food, vendor booths, bake sale, a children's play area and incredible raffle prizes.

New this year will be a kissing booth and pup cup treats for your favorite pooch. Contests for best costume, best trick, waggiest tail and best ears will be held promptly at noon. Judges Chris Hiner (President, Richland Bank), Chelsie Thompson (President, Renaissance Performing Arts) and Richland County Commissioner Tony Vero will have the difficult task of choosing the "Best Of" in each of these categories.

The popular pup parade at 1 p.m. will give adopted shelter dogs the opportunity to strut their stuff.

"This is by far our most popular event of the year. It is so much fun for not only pets and their people, but for our entire community," said Linda Chambers, Managing Director of the Humane Society. "I truly believe that animals make our lives better, and this is a fantastic way to spend the day honoring our furry friends.

"Plus, there is something for everyone to enjoy!"

The Humane Society of Richland County is a 501c3 non profit, and receives no government funding. Their entire budget is supported through the generosity of community donors. All money raised from this event will help the Humane Society of Richland County to continue to provide care to the abandoned, abused, and neglected animals in our community until they find loving homes.

Admission for this event is free, but cash donations or donations of food (Purina dog, puppy, cat and kitten is preferred), cat litter, dog treats, cat treats, bleach, and paper towels will be welcomed at the gate.
