FISH pantry

The FISH food pantry is located in the Shelby Help Line Ministries building at 29½ Walnut Street (Rear). Its Facebook page can be found at “FISH of Shelby.”

SHELBY – With the assistance of the greater Shelby community, United Steelworkers Local 3057 conducted a highly successful food drive on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Cornell’s IGA Supercenter.

The local FISH Food Pantry was the beneficiary of the community’s generosity.

“The people of Shelby continue to bless the pantry and its clients,” a FISH volunteer stated. “Our shelves are full and overflowing. Many thanks to one and all for their giving hearts.”

Local shoppers donated 260 bags of groceries to the pantry. In addition, they gave $675 in monetary donations.

“Special thanks go out to Local 3057 and Cornell’s IGA Supercenter for their many years of ongoing support of FISH,” the volunteer continued, “and thanks to the Cornell’s bakery for its treats during the food drive.”

USW Local 3057 represents hourly employees at ArcelorMittal’s Shelby plant – known to everyone as the Tuby. Again this year, Shelby Area Democratic Club members assisted with the food drive.

Organized as an Ohio not-for-profit corporation 49 years ago in 1971, The FISH of Shelby, Inc. operates the food pantry that serves residents of the Shelby City School District. It is located in the Shelby Help Line Ministries building. It can be found on Facebook at “FISH of Shelby.”
