MANSFIELD — AlliCat is having a moment.

The two-time Independent Music Award nominee is getting requests from across the nation to be part of other musicians’ music. Her songs on Spotify have reached more than 500,000 plays.

“I’ve been doing a lot of writing — a lot of collaborations,” she said. “I’m a little surprised at the incoming stuff. A lot of artists from out-of-state are reaching out.”

This Friday, July 20, she will perform as part of Richland Source’s Newsroom After Hours concert series.

“This is my first time being in my hometown and actually playing an event,” she said. She has previously held events, she added, but they were never planned or promoted.

“This is a little different being in my hometown. I’m not sure who all is coming, but I’m excited. I’m going to be performing some older songs and some of the new ones.”

One of her newest songs, “UGH” will be performed, she said. This is a song that an artist named Sly Ross, from Indiana, asked AlliCat to be a part of.

“I love the song. It’s a flossing and a flexing song. It’s really fun,” she said. “It’s got an aggressive beat, it’s awesome.”

AlliCat said Sly Ross will be joining the stage for the song on Friday.

Kid Kulture and the Trio will also be performing their own set at Richland Source Newsroom After Hours.

The doors open for the event at 40 W. Fourth Street at 6:30 p.m. Drinks and food will be provided while supplies last.
