American Red Cross

MANSFIELD – The American Red Cross Lake Erie/Heartland Chapter will be relocating its Mansfield office this summer. The new address is 2 Smith Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio, 44905.

The building currently houses the Mansfield Office of Catholic Charities.

“I feel our partnership with Catholic Charities will help provide additional support to our clients and facilitate in their recovery process,” said Lara Kiefer, executive director of the Lake Erie/Heartland Chapter of the Red Cross.

When the building where Red Cross offices are currently located, at 39 N. Park Street, was listed for sale last year, the search for an alternative location in Mansfield began, to ensure the ability of the Red Cross to continue to provide its vital services to the residents of Richland County.

The current site houses a Blood Donation Center. The new location will not be able to accommodate that service, so the Red Cross will host blood drives in the Richland Mall community space in front of Macy’s, at 2209 Richland Drive in Mansfield. More information on dates and times for donations can be found on our website at www.RedCrossBlood.org, on the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or by calling the local office at 419-524-4254.

“While we lament the loss of the space that has served as our home in Mansfield since 1971, it is our firm commitment to continue to meet our mission for the residents of Richland County, as we have been doing for the past 103 years,” Kiefer said.

She added that the Red Cross pledges to continue providing its vital lifesaving community services.

“We can be reached, 24/7, to respond to emergencies and provide emergency communications for military members and families in our community,” Kiefer said.

Red Cross services that will be ongoing:

Respond to home fires and other disasters, to help residents through their darkest hours.

Work to prevent disasters like home fires by installing free smoke alarms and providing home fire safety information.

Supply our first responders with refreshments when our assistance is requested.

Support Our Journalism

Provide lifesaving training, like First Aid and CPR.

Collect lifesaving blood at blood drives throughout the community.

Support members of the military, veterans and their families with emergency communications, resiliency training, family follow-up and critical community services.
