MANSFIELD -- Main Street Books has announced Brandon Doup as its next featured artist appearing in the Book Loft Gallery. There will be a reception for Doup’s art show on Friday, Sept. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Doup’s work will be up through mid-October.
"The work I created for this show focuses on memory and our sense of place," Doup said. "I use movement as both a visual device and as the theme, using contrast of organic shapes, industrial forms, cool fluid colors and bold black lines. The images of topographical maps, mazes, houses, and homes build a narrative of exact moments, and memories that have been abstracted over time.
"As a printmaker my style is intentional hard lines to organize forms, and bold colors filling these outlines shapes. Using this same consistent style with painting has allowed me to connect my themes over multiple mediums and create this current body of work 'Homes vs Houses.' "
Doup lives in Butler with his wife Amy, and two girls Emily and Evelyn. He is a 2007 Ashland University graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in Fine Art.
He has been building his current body of work over the past year and has exhibited these paintings in several galleries in Columbus and surrounding neighborhoods.
