ONTARIO -- The City of Ontario’s bi-weekly concert series will kick off Tuesday, June 11 with a performance by the DeVault Ridge Band.
The Concerts in the Park, organized largely by Ontario Youth Sports (OYS), features regular Tuesday evening shows at Marshall Park’s bandshell through Aug. 27.
“It’s become a bit of a tradition for the DeVault Ridge Band to open up our concerts in the park. They always draw a pretty good crowd, " said Kenn Spencer, director of OYS.
The lineup includes Acoustic Super Friends on June 25, The Return (progressive classic rock) on July 9, Oolong Gurus (country, rock) on July 23, Departure (Journey Tribute Band) on Aug. 13 and the Red Ball Jets on Aug. 27.
“We have more variety than ever. We have everything from progressive to classic rock, and we’ve got everything from a two or three piece band to a full blown band,” Spencer said.
All the concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marshall Park's band shell. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Ontario High School auditorium.
Admission is free, and food will be available for purchase.
The concerts are funded by OYS community sponsors.
“Everything we do is free to our community thanks to our community sponsors, and as we have grown, Richland County has really stepped up,” Spencer said.
Additionally, OYS has planned an Open Mic Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 28, a movie night for 9 p.m. on Aug. 10, and ‘Yoga in the Park’ at 7 p.m. June 20, July 18, Aug. 22 and Sept. 19.
